Volunteer Opportunities

Strike Team Member

To provide food and shelter to disaster victims in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisianna, and New Mexico. The team will be on call with four hours notice to respond for seven days during a specific time period. You must be able to lift 50 pounds, have a current drivers license and be willing and able to drive a van.

Prerequisites:
Orientation to American Red Cross, Introduction to Disaster, Mass Care, Strike Team Orientation, and current First Aid and CPR.

Minimum age: 18

Disaster Action Team Member
Respond to disasters in the local area. Members serve a minimum of two 12 hours shifts a month responding to the needs of local disaster clients. Required training is free.

Prerequisites:
Orientation to American Red Cross, Introduction to Disaster, and one additional class.

Minimum age: 18

Health and Safety Instructor
Teach community classes in First Aid and CPR.

Prerequisites:
Fundamentals of Instructor Training and First Aid and CPR Instructor Course.(See Health and Safety for cost of course.)
